The Upstate Partnership for Health lab conducts health psychology research related to the prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Ongoing studies focus on identifying psychological factors that contribute to high-risk sexual and substance use behaviors among adolescents, college students, and adults, as well as studies designed to characterize the coping challenges and experiences of men and women who are living with HIV disease. Two projects, the Men's Partnership for Health and Project iMPPACS involve the development and evaluation of health promotion interventions. Funding for our HIV prevention research is provided by the National Institute of Mental Health. We collaborate with a variety of health care providers and community based organizations in the Central New York region. Investigators: Peter A. Vanable, Ph.D. Michael P.
